A RICH HISTORY
ON ROUTE 66
Lucille Hamons’ legendary hospitality inspired Route 66 motorists to nickname her the “Mother of the Mother Road”. She was known for her friendly assistance to travelers, her great food, and the “coldest drinks in the state of Oklahoma.” Lucille ran her service station, diner, and hotel for over 60 years along this famous highway in Hydro, Oklahoma. “Hamons Court” neon sign is on display in the Smithsonian Museum.
